17th-century carvings, " Caritas”

17th century woodcarving

Origin: Netherlands

Caritas (from the Latin carus = expensive, dear, wrongly associated with the Greek charis = grace) or charity is committing an act of love and mercy. One can perform caritas in a material and immaterial sense. Giving money or giving clothing to charities are examples of caritas in a material sense. Doing volunteer is a form of caritas in the intangible sense.
