According to Jewish law, every newborn in the temple had to show himself to God. Therefore, exactly 40 days after the birth of Jesus, Joseph and Mary went to the temple with two doves as a sacrifice. At the temple, they met Simeon, a priest who prophesied to Mary: "know that many in Israel will be overthrown by him or, on the contrary, will rise. He will be a sign that will be disputed”
