Image of the worship of the Newborn Child Jesus in a manger. On the left, mother Maria – with long blonde hair-sits on the knee. Behind her Saint Joseph with his hat in his hand. On the right, an elderly Shepherd with a long gray beard making a gesture of blessing. A second standing Shepherd plays his bagpipe decorated with a lion mask.
Excellent piece of wood carving made around 1870 by a skilled woodcarver in Northern Europe (probably the Netherlands or Germany)
