The studio was founded around 1811 by Ferdinand De Bruyne. The most famous part of his oeuvre was performed in the popular neo-Gothic style. Later the studio was taken over by his son-in-law Armand Bourdon (sr), called Bourdon-De Bruyne (1818-1903). His son Armand Bourdon Jr. worked with the Wolfers brothers onder de naam ‘A. Bourdon et Wolfers Frères’. Three generations of Bourdons kept the business going for over 150 years: Armand sr, Edouard and Armand jr.
