The ferraiuolo (also: ferraiolone) is a type of wide Cape the door Catholic clergy be worn. The sleeveless cloak has a length up to the ankles and is tied together on the sternum with a single loop.
The ferraiuolo exists in three colors according to the rank of the cleric: black for priests, purple for bishops and red for the cardinal.
The ferraiuolo is not worn during liturgical ceremonies.
