He is the grandson of bouwmeester\u00a0<a title=\"Cornelis Bloemaert I\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cornelis_Bloemaert_I\">Cornelis Bloemaert I<\/a>\u00a0(ca. 1540-1593).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He was born the second son of his father\u00a0<a title=\"Abraham Bloemaert\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Abraham_Bloemaert\">Abraham Bloemaert<\/a>\u00a0and studied together with his father, his brothers\u00a0<a title=\"Hendrick Bloemaert\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hendrick_Bloemaert\">Hendrick<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"Adriaen Bloemaert\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Adriaen_Bloemaert\">Adriaen<\/a>\u00a0and his father&#039;s Apprentice,\u00a0<a title=\"Gerard van Honthorst\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gerard_van_Honthorst\">Gerard van Honthorst<\/a>. Although he originally learned the painting trade, he mainly focused on\u00a0<a title=\"Printing technology\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Druktechniek\">printing technology<\/a>, which he learned from\u00a0<a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Crispijn de Passe de Oude\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Crispijn_de_Passe_de_Oude\">Crispijn de Passe de Oude<\/a>\u00a0(I). In 1630 he went to\u00a0<a title=\"Paris\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Parijs\">Paris<\/a>, where he made engravings for, among others\u00a0<a class=\"new\" title=\"Michel de Marolles (the page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Michel_de_Marolles&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Michel de Marolles<\/a>&#8216;\u00a0<i>Temple des Muses<\/i>. In 1633 he left for Rome.<\/p>\n<p>His work can be recognized by the richness of the colors and the softness of the transitions between them. Among his pupils are\u00a0<a class=\"new\" title=\"Michel Natalis (the page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Michel_Natalis&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Michel Natalis<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"new\" title=\"Gilles Rousselet (the page does not exist)\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Gilles_Rousselet&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Gilles Rousselet<\/a>. Some of his better known engravings are\u00a0<a title=\"Annibale Carracci\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Annibale_Carracci\">Annibale Carracci<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0<i>The Holy Family<\/i>,\u00a0<a title=\"Pietro da Cortona\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pietro_da_Cortona\">Pietro da Cortona<\/a>\u2018s\u00a0<i>Adoration of the Shepherds<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"Peter Paul Rubens\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peter_Paul_Rubens\">Rubens<\/a>&#8216;\u00a0<i><a title=\"Meleager (mythologie)\" href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Meleager_(mythologie)\">Meleager<\/a><\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Houbraken, he travelled to Rome to make prints of many Italian Paintings. He was so successful in this that he stayed there until word reached him that his father wanted to see him one more time before he would die. However, he delayed his return so long that his father died and he remained in Rome until he died there himself.
